On January 10, 2016 the 73rd annual Golden Globes were held with four time host Ricky Gervais. Gervais kicked off the night with his usual raunchy, controversial comedy receiving, as always, roars of laughter. After the opening monologue, the award ceremony began. The Best Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series were Gael García Bernal for “Mozart in the Jungle” and Rachel Bloom for “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”. The winners for best Actor and Actress in a Drama were John Hamm for “Mad Man” and Taraji Henson for “Empire”. Lady Gaga then won for Best Actress in a Limited Series for “American Horror Story: Hotel.” While she was going up to the stage to receive her award she bumped into Leonardo DiCaprio’s arm prompting a scared and ridiculous face. Matt Damon won one of the final awards of the night, Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy. Throughout the night, the question arose many times on how “The Martian” is in the comedy category. Jennifer Lawrence then won for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy. The next two winners were Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama in “The Revenant” and Brie Larson for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama in “Room”. The last two awards of the night and probably the two largest award Best Motion Picture, Comedy and Best Motion Picture, Drama. The winner for Best Motion Picture, Comedy was “The Martian” and the winner for Best Motion Picture, Drama was “The Revenant”. The night ended with another amazing after party with all the stars eating In-and-out Burger. It was truly another magical night of appreciating the art of Television and Movies.
