On December 8, 2016, a group of girls piled into the school van with Ms. Sack and took a trip to My Place Germantown to help “deck the halls” and spread some jolly Christmas cheer. My Place Germantown is a non-profit organization located in the Germantown section of Philadelphia whose mission is to reduce homelessness by providing permanent supportive housing for disabled homeless males with strong relations to the area. During their trip, the girls met with the staff of the organization and decorated the house for Christmas. They worked together to trim the tree, decorate the dining hall, hang stockings in front of apartment doors, and spread their Christmas cheer is any other way possible! Maggie Rocatto ‘18 expresses her feelings about service during the Christmas holiday.  Maggie said, “My time ‘decking the halls’ at My Place Germantown has consistently been one of the most fulfilling holiday traditions. The atmosphere of the home is one of acceptance, warmth, and hospitality. I am so glad I could help this year, and I can’t wait to be back next year.” During your holiday season, remember to not only show your gratitude and love to those in your life, but to also express your appreciation through service to others! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
