Community Service Corps (CSC) is a group at Merion Mercy Academy that focuses on serving others in the Philadelphia area. It provides all students at MMA with many opportunities to participate in programs and events that serve their peers, children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and people who are poor or disadvantaged in our community. Every Merion girl is encouraged to strive to make a positive impact on the world and to live her life filled with compassion and service. CSC is a perfect way to put yourself out there and live out the MMA mission.

Even though the 2018-2019 school year has just begun, CSC already has had numerous service activities planned. So far, they are looking forward to volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, Friends of the Wissahickon, Mercy Neighborhood Ministries, Waldron Mercy Academy, Share Food Bank, and many more to come. At Ronald McDonald Houses the girls focus on spending time with sick children by doing crafts with them. Friends of the Wissahickon is a collaboration between Merion and St. Joseph’s Prep students to conserve the natural beauty of Wissahickon Valley Park. Through Mercy Neighborhood Ministries in Philadelphia, students take part in food drives that benefit families who are less fortunate. At Waldron Mercy Academy, which is right down the hill from MMA, volunteers help children from grades K-8 with homework. Even the smallest actions can make huge differences in other people’s lives. Cierra Parker ‘20, who is a leader of CSC, said, “Service is not only about being involved, it is about supporting those in need and putting smiles on their faces. By participating in community service events, I became more aware and appreciative of everything I have.”
