Every year, students at Merion Mercy Academy participate in a field trip day with their class. For junior field trip day, we split up and went to different service sites. Me and my group went to the Furniture Bank in Philadelphia. Here we helped to organize furniture, unload trucks, fix and assemble furniture. We had a lot of fun and made friends with the other workers there. The idea of the furniture bank is to help people who are recovering from poverty. Many people are able to afford a small place to live but unable to furnish it. Furniture is very expensive and necessary for living a normal life. The furniture bank allows people to come in and choose furniture for little or no cost, rather than the very expensive furniture from stores.
