“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Gandhi

Miss Mercy for the month of March is sophomore Hannah Facenda! Hannah is involved in many activities such as Glee Club, Chorale, Current Events, and Ricordia. She also loves to participate in CSC service projects throughout the year. This month, I had the privilege to ask Hannah a few questions about her life at Merion and what Mercy means to her.

Q: How do you practice Mercy in your day to day life?

Spreading love is so important. I often post positive or motivational sayings on my Instagram to remind everyone that no matter what they are going through, they are not alone. I think that something as simple as a giving a smile to another person in the hallway, or texting a friend to check on them is a great habit to get into. You have no idea how a simple act of love and kindness will change someone’s day.

Q: What is your favorite part about being a Merion student?

I love the relationships I have made with my sisters, the caring and supportive teachers, and the challenging and rigorous education. I am proud to go to school here at MMA. I know that by the time I graduate, I will have achieved so much in these short four years and that I will have grown into a strong young woman of mercy.

Q: In your opinion, what is the best way to spread kindness to others?

Smile at someone you don’t know. Text someone you haven’t talked to in a while. Be a friend to those who feel lonely. There are so many ways to make a difference in someone’s day. By simply speaking kindly to one another and being a light in the lives of your family and friends.

Q: Who is one person that you consider your role model?

My role model is March for Our Lives co-founder Delaney Tarr. She is a powerful young leader who stands up for what she believes in. She inspires me to be a change that I wish to see in the world.
