Galentine’s Day at Merion
Recently, on Friday, February 10, 2023, Merion Mercy celebrated its first ever Galentine’s Big Sister/Little Sister event! The event included fun and engaging activities that brought together MMA’s community in the spirit of sisterly love. The day began with festive donuts being served in the dining commons. Later in the afternoon, Big Sisters and Little Sisters met up and made friendship bracelets, as well as played a few rounds of bingo. Additionally, some pairs exchanged small gifts, like chocolate or stuffed animals. After school, students enjoyed a viewing of the movie Flipped and a game of rom-com themed trivia, hosted by StuCo.
Both the Galentine’s celebration and the themes of Thursday’s (2/9/23) Weekly Reset reflected on the importance of loving oneself before seeking out romantic relationships. The emphasis on these truths helped remind students that they are always loved here at Merion. Additionally, Mrs. Cho’s reflection on her teenage years and the notion of love let students know that they are not alone in their pursuit of romantic love and that finding it may not be easy; we must find the love inside of ourselves in order to love others. All in all, Galentine’s Day was a great way to get our community together and a perfect opportunity for Big/Little Sisters to get to know each other better.
