As of May 4, the Phillies are first in the National League East Division with a 23-11 record, ahead of the second-place Braves with a 20-11 record. The Phillies even set a franchise record, with 19 wins during the month of April. They lead the National League in home runs, with 41 total so far.
Alec Bohm leads the Phillies in both batting averages and Runs Batted In (RBI), with a .364 average with 32 RBIs. Unfortunately, he also has had the most errors, with a total of five. Kyle Schwarber leads in home runs, with eight so far this year, and reached a milestone of 100 total since joining the Phillies. Johan Rojas and Trea Turner are tied with seven stolen bases each. Bryce Harper has hit a career milestone, scoring his 1,000 run on April 2.
Phillies’ pitchers have been on top of their game so far this season. Zach Wheeler has an Earned Run Average (ERA) of 1.93, but Aaron Nola’s ERA is 3.20. Ranger Suarez has had an amazing season, with five earned wins and no losses, and an ERA of 1.32. He went nine total innings in the game against the Rockies on April 16, and up until April 27, had a scoreless inning streak of 32.
The Phillies look to keep up their explosive season as they head back to Citizens Bank Park for two series in a row: one against the Giants, and one against the Blue Jays, before going on the road to Miami to face the Marlins. We will be cheering them on, and keeping our fingers crossed for another Red October!
