Golden Globes Recap

January 6th was the 76th Golden Globe Awards hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg. The night brought fashion, awkward moments, and amazing wins.

It started with a fashionable red carpet. Everyone looked incredible but there were a few who stood out from the rest; the first being Julia Roberts. She wore gold top with black pants with a gold train. But Julia is no stranger to wearing pants to the Golden Globes. Back in 1990 she wore an oversized suit to the awards, and won best supporting actress for Steel Magnolias. We loved seeing her in this elegant but powerful look. The next actress that really stood out to us was Lupita Nyong’o. The Black Panther star looked beautiful in her electric blue dress, but what really made her look was her makeup. Her electric blue mascara and eyeliner really tied her whole look together.

The night continued with some big wins and loses. Vice received the most nominations, but Green Book was the big winner of the night. The movie received the award for best film: musical or Comedy, best supporting actor in a motion picture, and best screenplay of a motion picture. The fan favorite A Star is Born staring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, only won one award for best original song. The film lost the best drama movie category to Bohemian Rhapsody which definitely came as a surprise to most.

The Golden Globes also introduced a new award this year. The Carol Burnett award was implemented this year honoring the comedian for her life time achievement in show business. The first recipient of the award was Carol Burnett herself and her speech definitely warmed the hearts of those watching.

The 76th Golden Globe Awards was filled with amazing wins, great loses, and incredible tributes. The show was a great and fun way to start of this years award season.
